Scottish Ministers today announced their decision allowing the proposal for a 71-turbine wind farm scheme to proceed within the Forest of Ae in Dumfries and Galloway. Applications had been made under section 36 of the Electricity Act 1989 and for a direction that planning permission be deemed to be granted. The inquiry was held between June and October of 2006. The proposal extends over some 3,087 hectares and would have a maximum capacity of 213 MW.
The Harestanes scheme was promoted at the inquiry on behalf of Scottish Power by Andrew Newcombe.
