Sizewell C New Nuclear Power Station Approved

The Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy has approved the construction and operation of the new Sizewell C nuclear power station in Suffolk.  The new plant will generate 3.2GW of electricity, about 7% of the UK’s electricity needs and operate for 60 years.

The Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy has approved the construction and operation of the new Sizewell C nuclear power station in Suffolk.  The new plant will generate 3.2GW of electricity, about 7% of the UK’s electricity needs and operate for 60 years.  

The Secretary of State’s decision letter, the examining authority’s report and other associated documents are available on the National Infrastructure Planning website.

Hereward Phillpot QC, Hugh Flanagan and Daisy Noble acted on behalf of the applicant, NNB Generation Company (SZC) Limited during the six month examination into this nationally significant infrastructure project.  Andrew Tait QC and Isabella Tafur acted for the local planning authority, East Suffolk Council.
