Chambers is pleased to announce that Jeremy Phillips QC has been appointed as a Legally Qualified Chair of British Equestrian’s Judicial Panel.

British Equestrian is the National Governing Body for horse sports in the UK, affiliated to the Federation Equestre Internationale (FEI), the international governing body of equestrian sports.  
Established in 1972, British Equestrian is the umbrella organisation for its 18 independent member bodies (14 members and four associates) and today is the largest representative body within the equestrian industry in the UK; representing the interests of over 3 million riders, vaulters and carriage drivers (14 members and four associates). 

Jeremy has been addressing issues of individuals’ fitness and propriety for more than four decades. This experience covers the broad range of sports, including horseracing, athletics and swimming, as well as the casino, minicab (PHV), sex entertainment, nightclub, pub and security industries. 

Having been a partner in international law firms before transferring to the Bar (where he sat on the Bar Council’s Ethics Committee), Jeremy also advises and represents legal and healthcare professionals in relation to disciplinary matters.

Jeremy is also the Editor in Chief of Paterson’s Licensing Acts, the definitive legal text, and a General Editor of Smith and Monkcom: the Law of Gambling.  

Jeremy sits on the Sport Resolutions’ Mediator and Development Arbitrator Panels, the Lawn Tennis Association’s Disciplinary Panel and the Professional Conduct Panel of the Teaching Regulation Agency.

The appointment is for 3 years from 23 November 2021.
