Notes from Planning Magazine
The annual Planning Law Survey provides a detailed picture of the most highly rated planning barristers, solicitors, law firms and legal departments working in England today.
The survey, which was first published in 1998, invites solicitors, consultants, developers and local authorities to nominate barristers who, in their view, exemplify best practice. Solicitors and law firms are voted for by consultants, developers and local authorities.
A total of 253 respondents gave their nominations this year. Only those working in roles that could involve them in commissioning or instructing a barrister or solicitor, and who received an invitation from Planning, were eligible to vote.
The invitation list was compiled to ensure that rankings were not skewed by disproportionately high levels of responses from single organisations, and the results weighted to ensure that neither public nor private sector voters were disproportionately represented.
For almost three decades, our annual Planning Law Survey has been charting the most highly rated planning barristers working in England. Now in its 29th year, the survey identifies the outstanding silks and juniors rising through the ranks.
Our rankings are based on nominations from solicitors, consultants, developers, local authority legal teams and other client groups, who are invited to identify the barristers they consider to exemplify best practice.
