Juliano Denicol is Professor of Megaproject Management at University College London (UCL), Director of the Megaproject Delivery Centre, and the founding Programme Director of the MBA Major Infrastructure Delivery – the first MBA of the Bartlett, UCL’s world-leading Faculty of the Built Environment.

Professor Denicol’s work examines the organisation and delivery of major infrastructure, with particular emphasis on programme management, organisational design, procurement, supply chain management, systems integration, and the conditions that shape megaproject performance.

His work draws on major programmes around the world and has examined some of the UK’s most significant infrastructure investments, including High Speed 1, Heathrow Terminal 5, the London 2012 Olympic Games, Crossrail, the Thames Tideway Tunnel, and High Speed 2.

Professor Denicol founded the Megaproject Delivery Centre to advance research on how major infrastructure programmes are conceived, organised, and delivered. The Centre connects rigorous research with the challenges facing infrastructure clients, governments, and delivery organisations, creating a platform for developing and applying new thinking to major project delivery.

Research from the Centre has received multiple awards and gained significant visibility across industry, policy, and the media. Its research has informed the work of leading infrastructure organisations and institutions, including the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the Institution of Civil Engineers, UK Infrastructure and Projects Authority, and National Infrastructure Commission.

His research has led to collaborations with globally influential organisations, including the OECD and AECOM, a Fortune 500 company ranked by Fortune as the world’s most admired company in the construction sector.

Professor Denicol’s research has also contributed to infrastructure policy debates in the UK. He has given oral evidence to the House of Lords Built Environment Committee, while his research has been included in multiple written submissions to the UK Parliament, including submissions to the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) and the Public Administration and Constitutional Affairs Committee (PACAC).

Professor Denicol is the founding Programme Director of UCL’s MBA Major Infrastructure Delivery, created specifically for professionals responsible for major, mega, and gigaprojects. Designed for experienced professionals working full-time in infrastructure delivery, the programme combines cutting-edge research on major projects with international case studies and direct engagement with senior industry leaders, including CEOs, Managing Directors, and Directors. Its purpose is to develop the next generation of leaders capable of navigating the organisational, commercial, political, and technical complexity of major infrastructure delivery.

Professor Denicol’s research has attracted international media and industry attention, with coverage in the Financial Times, The Times, New Civil Engineer, Engineering News-Record, and other publications.

Professor Denicol chairs the “Multi-level Perspectives on Major and Megaprojects” track at the European Academy of Management (EURAM), the only permanent track at a major international management conference dedicated specifically to advancing research on the organisation and management of major and megaprojects.
