The Secretary of State has accepted the recommendation of the Examining Authority and granted development consent for the Lower Thames Crossing.

The Lower Thames Crossing is one of the most complex infrastructure projects to be considered under the Planning Act 2008 regime. One of its key objectives is to relieve congestion at the Dartford Crossing. It comprises three Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects, a 23km road linking the A2/M2 in Kent to the M25 in Essex with a new tunnel under the Thames as well as the diversion of existing gas and electricity networks.
