The draft Oxford Local Plan 2040 was submitted to the Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Communities and Housing on 28 March 2024, which marks the beginning of a public examination process.

The draft Oxford Local Plan 2040 was submitted to the Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Communities and Housing on 28 March 2024, which marks the beginning of a public examination process.

Planning Inspectors Kevin Ward BA (Hons) MRTPI and Martha Savage BSc(Hons) MCD MRTPI have been appointed to undertake an independent examination into the soundness and legal compliance of the submitted plan.

The Inspectors have directed that preliminary hearings will commence on 11 June 2024 into the following matters which generally concern whether the Council has complied with the relevant procedural and legal requirements:

Matter 1: Procedural/legal requirements
Matter 2: Duty to co-operate
Matter 3: Housing need and housing requirement
