Last night, the Lord Chief Justice of Northern Ireland, Sir Declan Morgan, launched ‘Judicial Review in Planning and Environmental Cases in Northern Ireland - A Guide for Litigants in Person’ at an event held in the Friends of the Earth offices in Belfast. The event was attended by a wide range of environmental campaigners, public interest groups and legal professionals, including members of the judiciary.
Richard Honey and Conor Fegan of Francis Taylor Building were co-authors of the guide, alongside Anurag Deb (KRW Law, Belfast) and Moyne Anyadike-Danes KC (Bar Library (Northern Ireland)). The guide was launched in conjunction with Friends of the Earth Northern Ireland and the Environmental Justice Network Ireland.
In his foreword to the guide, the Lord Chief Justice described it as a ‘detailed guide for personal litigants in judicial reviews involving planning and environmental protection issues’ which has managed to ‘fill a void’ that previously existed in the field.
The guide can be accessed electronically here.
