Governance Review of Christ Church, Oxford University

Former Attorney General, the Rt Hon Dominic Grieve KC, has published his report into the governance of Christ Church, Oxford. Christ Church is unique. It is a single foundation providing a teaching institution within the University of Oxford as well as a cathedral for the Diocese of Oxford.

Hitherto, the Dean of the Cathedral has also always been the head of house. The Grieve review recommends that the single Foundation remains but in a series of recommendations for change advises that the Head of House position be no longer connected to the office of Dean but open to those not in holy orders. The office of Dean of the Cathedral would remain and the Dean would still be in charge of the running of the Cathedral.
