CPO Inquiry Opens into Levelling-Up Regeneration Scheme in Dinnington, South Yorkshire

01 July, 2025

A CPO inquiry opens today into a scheme to regenerate the town centre of Dinnington near Rotherham, South Yorkshire through the creation of new public realm, a market square and high-quality modern commercial, retail and community space.

The scheme is fully publicly funded and benefits from a £11m Levelling Up Fund grant, which Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council successfully bid for in 2023, as well as the Council’s own funding. If granted the CPO will enable the replacement of disused and poorly maintained units, an unsuitable building layout and permanently affixed outdoor market stalls with a comprehensive placemaking scheme that seeks to enhance the vibrancy of the town centre and encourage increased dwell times, spend and investment in the area.

Caroline Daly and Esther Drabkin-Reiter act for Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council, the acquiring authority, instructed by Nathan Holden of Freeths LLP and assisted by Jeffrey Chu.
