At Evening Prayer on 22 July in the chapel at Lambeth Palace, the Archbishop of Canterbury (Most Revd and Rt Hon Dame Sarah Mullally) conferred the degree of Doctor of Laws upon Charles George KC.

At Evening Prayer on 22 July in the chapel at Lambeth Palace, the Archbishop of Canterbury (Most Revd and Rt Hon Dame Sarah Mullally) conferred the degree of Doctor of Laws upon Charles George KC. Charles was Dean of the Arches and Auditor of the Chancery Court of York between 2009 and 2020 and before that (from1996) had been Chancellor of the Diocese of Southwark. The award of a Lambeth doctorate, made under the Ecclesiastical Licences Act 1533, marks Charles’s outstanding contribution over many years to ecclesiastical law. Charles was a valued member of FTB (formerly 2 Harcourt Buildings) between 1975 and his retirement in 2015.
