The Central Bedfordshire Council Local Plan 2015 -2035 is the first local development plan to cover the entire area of the unitary authority which was formed as part of a local government re-organisation in 2009.
The examination hearings were held from 21 May 2019 to 25 July 2019 and then during the pandemic remotely from 8 December 2020 to 18 December 2020.
Saira Kabir Sheikh QC acted on behalf of Central Bedfordshire Council at all stages of the examination and at both hearing sessions. She also acted for the Council in respect of the judicial review brought by Luton Borough Council against the grant of planning permission for the M1 –A6 link road during the course of the examination. She was assisted by Alexander Greaves during the first session of the examination hearings.
