A 4-week public inquiry opens today to consider the Port of London Authority’s application for a Harbour Revision Order. The proposed Order would update the Port of London Authority’s powers by amending the Port of London Act 1968.

The Port of London Authority applied for a Harbour Revision Order in 2021. Several objections have not been withdrawn, causing the Marine Management Organisation to call the application in for a public inquiry.

Claire Nevin acts for one of the objectors, Thamesbank, an independent organisation that brings together local communities, river users and organisations with a common vision for the Thames as a unique, sustainable, habitat for wildlife and people. Thamesbank objects to the order on the basis that the PLA failed to carry out environmental assessments and involve members of the public in environmental decision-making pursuant to the Aarhus Convention.
