The planning inspectors' reports into the South Cambridgeshire District Council Development Control Policies Document and the Northstowe Area Action Plan have been received and both documents have been found to be sound.
The Development Control Policies Document is a key part of the Local Development Framework (LDF), it covers a wide range of topics including housing, jobs, travel, the natural environment and the Green Belt. A key element of the DPD is a target of at least 40 per cent of all new homes being affordable.
The Northstowe Area Action Plan has also been given the green light. The Northstowe AAP provides the planning policy framework to determine any planning applications for the new town. The delivery of the new town of Northstowe is a crucial part of the development strategy for the Cambridge Sub Region.
Earlier this year, the Core Strategy DPD for South Cambridgeshire was the first to be found sound in the country under the new system of plan making.
Saira Kabir Sheikh appeared on behalf of South Cambridgeshire District Council at the public inquiries into the DPDs.
