Richard Honey is currently advising the Shadow DEFRA team (Peter Ainsworth MP, Greg Barker MP and Lord Taylor of Holbeach) on the Climate Change Bill, which recently entered the committee stage in the House of Lords. Richard has also drafted a number of amendments to the Bill, which are intended to strengthen the Bill's requirements for tackling climate change.
Richard also recently advised Michael Fallon MP on the Planning and Energy Bill, which had its first reading on 5 December 2007. Michael Fallon came top in this year's Private Members' Bill ballot. The Bill aims to give statutory power to the "Merton Rule", which enables local planning authorities to require the provision of on-site renewable energy generation facilities.
Richard Honey previously advised Nick Hurd MP on his Private Members' Bill which became the Sustainable Communities Act 2007.
