Supreme Court to Hear Appeal in R (Lewis) V. Redcar & Cleveland BC
The Supreme Court has granted permission to Mr Lewis to appeal against the Court of Appeal's controversial decision on prescriptive acquisition of rights, in the context of the Commons Act 2006. The hearing will take place in the week beginning 18th January 2010. Read more

The Court of Appeal has granted permission to apply for judicial review of a grant of planning permission, by Carlisle City Council, for a freight storage and distribution facility at Carlisle airport. Read more

Valuation of Electricity Generation and Supply Undertaking in Hong Kong
In a decision given on 30th November 2009 in Hong Kong Electric Company Ltd v Commissioner of Rating and Valuation, after a hearing of 19 days, the Hong Kong Lands Tribunal allowed the Company's appeal resulting a substantial reduction in the rateable value of the electricity generation, transmission and distribution undertaking which serves the whole of Hong Kong Island. Compensation for Compulsory Purchase in the Cayman Islands
In a decision given on 24th November 2009 in Concept Ltd v The National Roads Authority, the Grand Court of the Cayman Islands has given the first authoritative interpretation of the local law of compensation for the compulsory purchase of land, aligning it closely with established English law.
